What are the signs your marriage needs help?
Your marriage may need help if you avoid talking, resentment keeps building, or you have thought about separating. Feeling disconnected after years of routine is also common. These signs don't mean the marriage is over. They mean it needs attention and support.
- You avoid conversations to prevent fights
- Old hurts keep coming back unresolved
- You've quietly thought about separation or divorce
- Husband-wife problems over roles, time or support
- You're searching for how to save your marriage
What issues does marital counselling cover?
Marital counselling covers in-law conflicts, extramarital affairs, sexless marriage, parenting disagreements, financial stress and confusion about separation or divorce. Sessions can include family members when it helps. Every topic is handled privately and without judgement.
In-law conflicts
Set healthy boundaries while staying a united team.
Extramarital affair counselling
Process betrayal and decide the path forward.
Sexless marriage
Gently explore intimacy and desire without blame.
Parenting disagreements
Find common ground on raising children.
Financial stress
Talk about money openly and plan as partners.
Separation or divorce confusion
Divorce and separation counselling for a clear decision.
How many sessions of marriage counselling are needed?
Most couples start with 6 to 10 weekly sessions of 75 minutes. Couples dealing with an affair or long-standing resentment may need more. Your counsellor will suggest a plan after the first session and review it with you as you go.
What happens in marriage counselling? Our 3R Marriage Method
Our 3R Marriage Method is how we structure marriage counselling at Urban Counsellor. Each step builds on the last, at a pace that feels right for you.
- 1
Reflect
Understand each partner's story, needs and family patterns.
- 2
Repair
Address hurts, resentment and broken trust safely.
- 3
Rebuild
Create new habits for respect, teamwork and closeness.

Every journey is different. Many clients notice real progress, but we never promise specific outcomes.
Who is marriage counselling for — and who is it not for?
Marriage Counselling is a good fit for most people facing everyday relationship difficulties. It is not a replacement for emergency, medical or legal help.
This is for you if…
- Married couples facing conflict or distance
- Couples affected by in-law or family pressure
- Spouses recovering from an affair who both want to try
- Couples unsure whether to stay together or separate
This is not the right support if…
- Situations of domestic violence — please seek safety and specialist support first
- Mental health emergencies — contact Tele-MANAS (14416) or 112
- Legal advice on divorce — please consult a family lawyer
Not for emergencies. If you are in crisis, please contact a local helpline such as Tele-MANAS (14416) or emergency services (112).
